Harnessing ancient armour techniques to protect against the four horsemen of the climate apocalypse.

Studies from Professor Luke Kemp at the University of Cambridge predict that in 2070 the climate will have broken down beyond repair, if we do not act now. We will face a biblical Four Horsemen of the Climate Apocalypse:
Extreme Weather
Vector Born Diseases
Famine and Malnutrition
Technological Conflict

I have used leather, the oldest material known to man and a waste product of the meat industry to draw attention to the urgency to act now to prevent the Last Judgement. It is estimated that 40% of the hides produced each year are disposed of as waste and burned, emitting fossil fuels into the atmosphere.

Leather can last for up to 100 years and be passed down generations. It will also biodegrade, if dyed naturally using traditional vegetable dyes. It can be made naturally waterproof, protect against sandstorms and air pollution. It can even act as a shield against surveillance technology. Mixing natural scented oils, I infused the leather armour, making it act as an insect repellent against vector born disease. Leather alternatives like mycelium leather, currently in development, can be used in the place of animal hide and hold the same properties and ability to be adapted for protection against these future threats. Leather craft has been passed down generations for millennia. It is a generational material and craft. We need to treat our clothes as forever items, until they need to break down. Promoting a leather forever mentality, breaking apart our wasteful over-consumptive relationship with clothes and fashion will be the key to our future survival and that of the planet.
